TransGrid
Electrical Engineering Traineeship Program

TransGrid's Trainee Engineering Officer Program offers Trainees the opportunity to gain valuable and practical work experience in an engineering discipline, and receive financial assistance in the form of a Traineeship, while completing an Advanced Diploma of Electrical Technology at TAFE.

Traineeships provide Trainees with the opportunity to demonstrate their potential suitability for future engineering related roles within the organisation.

Upon completion of the traineeship, Trainees are eligible to apply for positions vacant within TransGrid, or will be equipped with skills and experiences that enable them to gain positions elsewhere in the industry.

Program Structure

TransGrid's Traineeship Program is designed to be undertaken over a four (4) year period, combining part-time study at TAFE with part-time practical work experience.

Practical work experience, training and development will be undertaken within TransGrid. The Trainee will spend approximately six to twelve months in a group or Business Unit before rotating elsewhere within the company.

In order to facilitate work experience, training and competency development, TransGrid will provide Trainees with a defined training and development plan to enable the Trainee to acquire skills and competencies identified as necessary for competent performance as an Engineering Officer.

Trainees will work a standard thirty-five (35) hour week [nine (9) day fortnight] which includes time to attend TAFE during semester periods.

When not at TAFE, the Trainee will be engaged in practical work experience, training and development at any one of TransGrid's Principal Business Offices, although this is currently restricted to Sydney CBD and Horsley Park.

During TAFE semester breaks and holiday periods, Trainees will be required to work full-time hours completing practical work experience, training and development at any one of TransGrid's Principal Business Offices.

The Trainee shall be reimbursed for TAFE course fees and textbooks in accordance with semester subject and module course requirements.
