TransGrid met with members of the Tenterfield community today to discuss their $227 million Far North NSW Transmission Line Project.
Eleven TransGrid staff were available from 9am Saturday morning to discuss the project in detail at The Tenterfield Memorial Hall, before the public meeting at 11am.
“Hearing the community's feedback first hand over the weekend proved extremely valuable and has made a significant contribution to the early stages of our ongoing consultation process”, said TransGrid's Manager Projects Don Paton.
“The open discussions held demonstrate a high level of engagement from the Tenterfield community and TransGrid is looking forward to working closely with them on the project in the future.
“TransGrid is committed to understanding and addressing the concerns of all community members and a number of individual meetings with landowners have already taken place, with more meetings scheduled to occur in coming weeks”, said Mr Paton.
The project will establish a 330kV circle or ‘ring' of power supply across Far North NSW, increasing the reliability of electricity in Tenterfield and the surrounding region.
“After Saturday's meeting, I am confident that an ongoing dialogue with the community has been established and local knowledge will continue to inform the project”, said Mr Paton.
During the meeting TransGrid staff expressed their appreciation to Tenterfield Mayor Toby Smith and Tenterfield Shire Council for their on-going support to TransGrid in providing the community with information on the project.
