TransGrid operates within the National Electricity Market and is bound by the National Electricity Rules. Within these rules, TransGrid is obliged to deliver a transmission system that meets the reliability standards specified under the National Electricity Rules or requested by TransGrid's customers.
TransGrid's consultation documents provide the basis for TransGrid to liaise with National Electricity Market registered participants, the Australian Eenergy Market Operator (AEMO) and other interested parties in identifying the most feasible option for the development of electricity supply to a particular region of NSW.
TransGrid prepares and issues the following consultation documents:
- An Application Notice which allows interested parties to make submissions on a proposed TransGrid network solution and provide feedback.
- A Final Report which includes a decision on the most feasible network solution that will achieve the best overall result for NSW.
