Electricity demand in the Lower Mid-North Coast has increased steadily over recent years.
Combined forecasting between Country Energy, EnergyAustralia and TransGrid predicts that peak electricity demand in this area will continue to rise by as much as 35% over the next 10 years.
To meet increasing electricity demand, TransGrid is proposing to upgrade the electricity supply to the Lower Mid-North Coast region, between Tomago and Stroud Road.
The proposed project works include:
- Constructing new transmission lines between TransGrid’s Tomago Substation and an existing power line to the north of Woodberry
- Upgrading the existing power line between Tarro and Stroud Road by rebuilding the line
Review of Environmental Factors
TransGrid has commenced the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the proposed upgrade.
It is anticipated that the REF will be placed on public exhibition for comment in late 2010. During this time, TransGrid will consult with the community, with input feeding directly into the assessment process.
