In the National Energy Market (NEM), the operations of network service providers are overseen by a number of governing bodies.
The National Electricity Law (NEL) establishes the overarching legal framework for the NEM, and sets out the roles of the governing bodies. These include the Australian Energy Regulatory (AER) who is responsible for economic regulation of electricity transmission businesses, including Transgrid.
