Our commitment to the community

The transition to a lower carbon future requires expanding our existing transmission network to ensure more renewable generation can connect to the system. We recognise the vital role that landowners and our stakeholders have as we plan and deliver our projects and network operations. We are dedicated to continuously improving our engagement to support our decision making and deliver community benefits.

Our engagement approach is centred on the principles of transparency, accessibility, inclusiveness and communication.

Delivering the best outcomes for energy customers is integral to the way we operate. We are proud to be a founding signatory to The Energy Charter, an industry-led initiative to deliver a more affordable, reliable and sustainable energy system for Australians.

Transgrid is committed to continuously improving our engagement to support our decision making and deliver tangible and lasting community benefits, while progressing our work program. Our new Community Engagement Policy outlines our ambition to listen, respond and work with communities to ensure their views are embedded into our decision making. It recognises the vital role that landowners and the community have in the planning and delivery of our projects and network operations.  We want to work with communities in meaningful, accountable, responsive and equitable ways.

Importantly, we are committed to listening, seeking to understand, and acting on what matters most to communities and working with them to identify opportunities that benefit them, while striving to minimise the impacts of our operations. Our aim is to build trusted and beneficial relationships with the communities where we work.
