Eligible organisations in Broken Hill and other Far West NSW communities are now able to apply for share of a new $500,000 Community Partnerships Program.

Transgrid has engaged a big battery to increase the capacity of its network in the Riverina and deliver extra renewable energy to households and businesses without building new transmission infrastructure.

Transgrid has commenced planning for the construction of the permanent high-voltage transmission towers for Broken Hill and NSW Far West communities, following restoration overnight of the primary power supply for the region.

Transgrid expects to successfully return power to Broken Hill and surrounding communities by tomorrow afternoon, almost a week ahead of the expected timeframe.

As of 8:41pm Broken Hill time (ACDT) 31 Oct, Transgrid confirmed the power line linking Broken Hill to the HV transmission network was energised.

Transgrid crews have expedited reconstruction of the 3.5km storm-damaged transmission line near Broken Hill and are working to return the Far West region’s primary power supply as the NSW network operator extends its support to the community announcing $500,000 in grants.
