23 May 2019

TransGrid is pleased to announce the appointment of Fiona Orton as Head of Future Energy. Fiona will report to TransGrid's EM Strategy, Eva Hanly.

Eva said: "Fiona's appointment is a crucial role to develop the vision for future energy at TransGrid, as well as our role in the longer term energy transition."

Fiona trained as a chemical engineer and has been at TransGrid for 18 months in the role of Future Grid Manager. She recently led a cross functional scenario based planning exercise to understand how changing technology, regulation, economic and consumer trends may impact on the development of TransGrid's network. Prior to joining TransGrid, Fiona spent eight years at AGL in roles spanning energy market design and operation, policy, climate change, scenario planning and strategy.

In her new role, Fiona will work to define, analyse, develop and articulate the long term vision for the future energy sector, the associated market structures, customer needs, and drivers of value for TransGrid.
