Transgrid awarded 5-star rating for second year running for GRESB performance

10 November 2021

Transgrid has scored 97 out of 100 points in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) report for 2021.

GRESB is a global performance benchmarking tool for environmental, social and governance (ESG) which Transgrid has participated in since 2015.

For the second year in a row Transgrid was awarded a 5-star GRESB rating, which is reserved for those placed in the top 20% of companies surveyed.

In addition, Transgrid was also:

  • Ranked 13 out of 549 infrastructure assets around the globe
  • Placed 2nd out of 9 Electricity Transmission Networks

Executive Manager for Strategy, Innovation and Technology Eva Hanly said the strong score reflects Transgrid’s commitment to sustainability.

“Transgrid is playing a key role leading the transition to a clean energy future and this rating is a direct result of the dedication, collaboration and commitment of many teams across our business.

“We established our ESG program to ensure that we are focused on the critically important issues that our staff, communities and customers care deeply about.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to our ESG strategies and initiatives and make a real difference every day to our employees, customers, communities and stakeholders," Eva said.

The GRESB Assessment covers a wide range of business functions and has two components for scoring:

  • Management, including leadership, policies, reporting, risk management and stakeholder engagement; and
  • Performance, including Health and Safety, customers, employees, and environmental impacts.

This year saw the largest ever increase in asset participation, with 558 assets reporting representing $738 billion of assets and covering 33 sectors in 69 countries.
