Transgrid Indigenous Achievement Award winner announced

14 September 2020

Steven Fordham, a proud Kamilaroi man who cofounded Blackrock Industries, recently won the TransGrid Indigenous Achievement Award at a virtual ceremony to celebrate the way he is using his life experience to give back to his community.

Steven's achievement was announced by Heather Wagland, Head of Property and Environment at Transgrid.

The award is one of several accolades in the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards, which aim to acknowledge, encourage and promote the positive achievements of all young people in NSW & the ACT.

Steven was one of 329 nominees across nine categories and was chosen for his work with Blackrock Industries and providing opportunities to Indigenous inmates to be rehabilitated back into society. Their inmate program has provided a way to end Indigenous incarceration rates.

Congratulations to Steven who not only won the Transgrid Indigenous Achievement Award, but also took home the overall Young Achiever Award for 2020, presented by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
