TransGrid has published its first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement and Participation Policy, affirming a business-wide commitment to engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities during the development, delivery, maintenance and operation of projects and assets.
27 May 2020
We recognise that TransGrid has a significant role to play in reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through this new policy, we are committing to the following four principles:
-
Respect and recognise ongoing connection to Country and the importance of cultural heritage
-
Create participation opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and businesses
-
Lead the way in engaging with and developing sustainable relationships
-
Enhance the cultural awareness of our employees and contractors to ensure they understand its importance and relevance.
The policy will assist us with implementation strategies and plans for our major projects. It links closely with our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, and will have a positive and long-lasting impact as we continue along the road to reconciliation.
