Transgrid seeks feedback on Powering Sydney’s Future

11 October 2019

TransGrid has submitted its Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Powering Sydney's Future project. The EIS is now on public exhibition, and the public is invited to make a formal submission from 11 October to 22 November 2019 via the DPIE major projects portal.

All feedback will be considered by the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment in their assessment of the project, which aims to install a new transmission cable from Potts Hill to Alexandria.

Powering Sydney's Future Project Director, Evonne Bennett, says "the project is designed to secure the electricity supply of the Sydney CBD and surrounding areas, and we look forward to hearing the community's feedback on our plans to deliver this project".

"Sydney's population and economy are growing. The city's peak electricity demand has been rising steadily since 2014, and demand is projected to increase further in the future," she says.

Further information about Powering Sydney's Future and how to make a submission is available on our website: www.transgrid.com.au/psf.
