Transgrid Telecommunications set for network upgrade

"The upgrade is a significant milestone for TransGrid and a major addition to the company's 4,000 km 'Fibre in the Sky' network," said TransGrid's Head of Telecommunications Glenn Wood. "This upgrade gives NSW access to a new, state-of-the-art telecommunications network with some of the best reliability, speed and security in the market today."
"Government, Wholesale and Enterprise customers now have a real and competitive alternative, with a network designed to the highest standards and incorporating the latest equipment and switching technology available," said Glenn Wood.
MEF is a global industry alliance comprising more than 200+ organisations founded in 2001 that aims to accelerate the worldwide adoption of assured services across automated networks.
The MEF develops technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide. This is a ubiquitous, standardised, carrier-class service that distinguishes it from familiar LAN-based Ethernet. MEF Members include large domestic and international Telcos and networking vendors.
