The Queensland-NSW Interconnector (QNI) project, a major grid transmission upgrade that will ensure more reliable supply of electricity to customers at all times, including during periods of peak demand, is on track for completion by May 2022.

Civil works have now begun at Transgrid’s Yass substation to enable the supply of additional power from renewable resources via the NSW and ACT grid.

Civil works are now complete at Tamworth substation, the largest of five substations to be upgraded as part of the Transgrid Queensland-NSW Interconnector upgrade, a major infrastructure project that will lower energy prices to consumers by enabling better energy sharing between the two states.

Transgrid has advanced planning for the proposed HumeLink project, which will deliver $491 million in net benefits, with the submission of a Scoping Report to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE).

Transgrid today submitted our Revenue Proposal to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), which explains our expenditure, revenues and transmission prices for the next regulatory period, which commences on 1 July 2023 and ends on 30 June 2028.

More than 820 individual businesses have registered to become prequalified for work on Transgrid’s EnergyConnect project, a critical electricity transmission infrastructure which will save NSW energy customers $180 million a year and generate up to 1,500 new jobs.
