Grid owners see central role in Finkel's energy future


The electricity transmission industry has shrugged off warnings in the Finkel Review about potential wasted money in new interconnectors, pointing to the major investment that would be required to connect the proposed new renewable energy zones.

Transmission companies also said the review's recommendation for a greater role for the industry in planning would make them more central in decisions around the shape of the future grid, despite the greater responsibility that would be taken by the energy market operator.
