Course overview

The qualification covers work on transmission overhead powerlines, including the installation, inspection and maintenance of towers, poles, structures, conductors, and hardware.

The application of the skills and knowledge described within the units in this qualification may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace.

Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this qualification.

Course delivery: blended learning

This program module involves practice and experience in the workplace supported by a structured face-to-face and self-paced online learning and assessment program. There is a mix of formal and informal training and structured workplace experience allowing learners to demonstrate skills and knowledge for the program module.

Onsite at our Transgrid campus in Sydney West, you will work on our purposeful training site on de-energised high voltage (HV) powerlines conveying electricity from generating plants to substations. The practical training is held at Transgrid’s nominated regional training venues under the mentoring & support of Transgrid Trainer and Assessor.

Course structure

This qualification, UET30521- Certificate III in ESI - Transmission Overhead, includes 19 core units and 2 electives units from the elective units of which, 1 elective unit may be selected, with appropriate contextualisation, from a qualification in this or any other endorsed Training Package, provided the selected unit contributes to the vocational outcome of the qualification.
