Frequently Asked Questions

Can you walk us through the standard recruitment process at Transgrid?

Our recruitment process generally involves 5 steps: application, phone screen, interview, pre-employment checks and reference checks.

The first time you apply with us, you will need to create a profile on our Careers portal. This would allow you to update your personal information and apply for a role. Generally, a decision is made quite quickly after the last interview is held, and an offer is made within the week once all the checks are completed.

Can I apply for more than one position at a time?

Yes. However, a separate online application is required for each advertised position.

What advice can you provide to external applicants looking for role at Transgrid?

Be prepared and carefully read the advertisement to determine if the role is right for you. Make sure you set up job alerts for roles of interest. We would also recommend researching TransGrid as a Company to really understand who we are and our purpose. Our Values are an important part of who we are so it is worth looking at these to see if they align with your own as this is what we look for outside of technical experience in our candidates.

How often are new positions advertised?

Positions are advertised based on the growing demands of our business. We encourage people to regularly visit our Careers portal to check, and set up job alerts in order to be notified of roles of interest.

What's the biggest mistake entry level talent (uni students, grads, apprentices etc) make during interviews?

One of the most common mistakes entry-level talent makes is not researching Transgrid or the energy industry. An enjoyable way to research Transgrid is to read our social media posts and watch our YouTube videos at youtube.com/@transgrid_energy

If someone is interested in working for Transgrid but is not necessarily wanting to change jobs right now, how can they express their interest to be considered for future roles?

They can email their resume and areas of interest to talent.resourcing@transgrid.com.au

Do job seekers need a related degree?

This will depend on the type of role you are applying for. We recommend checking the position requirements in our ads which outline what/ or if a Degree is required as well as what skills and experience you need.

How do you promote diversity and inclusion in recruitment?

We work with Industry representatives to help drive our recruitment diversity and inclusion strategies to encourage an inclusive workplace. We are proud to be a Work180 endorsed employer. Work180 is a global jobs network committed to raising workplace standards for all women.

We also support three active employee networks Rise Allies (LGBTQIA+), Energise Network (gender equity) and Yarn Up (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander network).
