Australia’s largest transmission project has launched the nation’s first multi-million-dollar training initiative to boost skills in the power transmission sector across regional NSW.

A passion for mentoring Indigenous students has seen Dr Georgia Durmush take home the Transgrid Indigenous Achievement Award at this year’s 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards NSW & ACT.

AEMO Victorian Planning (AVP) and Transgrid have [today] released the final report in the regulatory investment test for the Victoria – New South Wales Interconnector West (VNI West). This marks the end of this part of theregulatory process that began in 2019, involving hundreds of stakeholders and more than 600 written submissions.

Seventeen students at Charles Sturt University have been awarded scholarships by Transgrid as part of the transmission network’s commitment to investing in the next generation of engineers and addressing Australia’s infrastructure skills shortage.

Wagga Wagga and Riverina locals will be able to visit Transgrid’s new community engagement centre to get information and give feedback on major projects and learn more about a wide range of transmission operations.

Transgrid has established a formal partnership with the University of Newcastle to create education, training and employment opportunities for students and support future energy projects in the Hunter.
