Meaningful stakeholder engagement is at the heart of how we plan, build and operate the energy system. We actively listen to and work with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure our projects reflect diverse perspectives and deliver long-term value. This includes regular engagement with government agencies, regulators, industry groups, and commercial partners—as well as Indigenous communities, consumer advocates, researchers, suppliers, and investors. By building strong, respectful relationships, we’re able to make better decisions, respond to community needs, and help shape a cleaner, more reliable energy future for everyone.

Transgrid Advisory Council

Established in 2018, the Transgrid Advisory Council (TAC) is our principal stakeholder engagement forum, whose purpose is to inform and challenge Transgrid’s investment in and enablement of the energy transition.

The TAC comprises members from consumer advocacy groups, energy industry organisations, and subject matter experts, who contribute a diverse range of expertise and perspectives.

Input from the TAC helps ensure our decisions deliver prudent, efficient, and equitable outcomes for consumers, customers, and communities.

The TAC includes representatives from:

  • Australian Industry Group
  • Business Council of Australia
  • Clean Energy Council
  • City of Sydney
  • Commonwealth Bank of Australia
  • Energy Consumers Australia
  • Energy Users Association of Australia
  • Ethnic Communities Council NSW
  • Infrastructure Partnerships Australia
  • Justice and Equity Centre (formerly PIAC)
  • Louise Benjamin (independent)
  • Regional Australia Institute
  • Rod Stowe (independent)
  • Snowy Hydro
  • St Vincent de Paul Society

Representatives of the Australian Energy Regulator also attend TAC meetings to observe discussions.

Directly connected customers

Our direct customers are mostly medium to large businesses that are connected directly to our high-voltage transmission network. This includes energy generators, major industrial users, and other network partners who rely on us to deliver safe, reliable electricity to power their operations.

To make sure we’re providing the best possible service, each of our direct customers is supported by a dedicated customer manager. This one-on-one approach helps us build strong, trusted relationships and ensures we’re always responsive to their needs.

We work closely with our directly connected customers to find smarter, more efficient ways of working together. This includes joint planning for future energy needs, coordinating maintenance schedules to minimise disruptions, and collaborating on industry-wide initiatives. We also support their projects and carry out hazard mitigation work to help keep people and infrastructure safe.

By staying connected and working in partnership, we’re helping our customers succeed—while supporting the delivery of safe, reliable electricity for all energy users.
