We engage with a wide range of external stakeholders to plan and build the energy system needed to thrive in a clean energy future. This includes all levels of government, regulators, industry associations and commercial partners, indigenous groups, consumer advocates, research institutions, suppliers, investors and financiers.
Transgrid Advisory Council
The Transgrid Advisory Council (TAC) is our principal stakeholder engagement forum, comprising representatives from energy consumer groups and industry, provides insights to help Transgrid make better decisions.
We established the TAC in 2018 to gain feedback and input on our major projects, business plans and strategic policy topics, so that customer and industry needs and perspectives can be addressed in the decisions we make. The TAC meets monthly to discuss a variety of projects and energy transition issues.
TAC members come from a variety of organisations, representing electricity consumers, energy industry stakeholders and other subject matter experts.
The TAC includes representatives from:
- Australian Industry Group
- Business Council of Australia
- Clean Energy Council
- City of Sydney
- Commonwealth Bank of Australia
- Energy Consumers Australia
- Energy Users Association of Australia
- Ethnic Communities Council NSW
- Infrastructure Partnerships Australia
- Justice and Equity Centre (formerly PIAC)
- Louise Benjamin (independent)
- Regional Australia Institute

Directly connected customers
Our direct customers are generally medium to large businesses that have a connection into our transmission network. They consist of network partners, major load customers and generators.
By allocating a dedicated customer manager to every direct customer, we can focus on providing a high quality service that represents value.
We work closely with our directly connected customers to develop strong relationships and to deliver efficiencies. This includes participating in joint planning, aligning maintenance outages, collaborating on industry initiatives, providing support on projects, and undertaking hazard mitigation work to support the delivery of safe, reliable and affordable electricity for energy consumers.
